I thought this was filming in France? Didn't we think that?
Yes out of Rob's mouth he said Paris....in Janurary for Bel Ami and something about 3 months! Maybe they changed locations b/c of something, well at least I think Rob would be happier in London closer to family and friends.....but at the same time France has really good laws probably less papz and shit so I dont know.

and by the way Nicole Kidman will not be in the film...something with the schedule didn't work out for her...sooooooo...who will be the next most envies cougar in the world?

OKay this is the quote from Rob I was thinking about.... “If everything goes as schedule, in January I’ll be filming Bel Ami in Paris for 3 months, after which I’ll start filming the fourth and last Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn.” I am pretty sure there is a Video or it is in a magazine but I can not remember when he woudl have said this to begin looking for it.

I just started reading the script. This is not a spoiler. This better be filmed exactly as in the script. It begins...
"INT. ATTIC ROOM - SUNSET A bed. It is a narrow, old bed, with a bent iron frame. Advancing across its dirty white sheets, a black mark. A cockroach. Fat, glistening, it negotiates the hills and valleys of the bedclothes. Watching its approach, face down, inert, is the other occupant of the bed: GEORGES DUROY, 30, handsome, and, on this sweltering night, naked. He explodes into action. Flicks the cockroach to the floor, grabs a boot and smashes the heel down on it."
If that doesn't put my ass in a theater seat, I don't know what will...

Well, I'm a little more than halfway through the script and two things...One, there are at least 3 extremely lucky actresses out there right now. And they might not even know it yet. And two, Robert has said that he hasn't even had a love scene with a woman yet? (I guess he doesn't count The Haunted Airman?) Well, that'll change. A lot. If I were him, I would be chomping at the bit to make this movie. Also...there is a very cute scene involving him, a woman, and a little girl. Awwww! Someone else please read this script soon...

It sounds like we are about at the same place in the script. It is a good read and yes, there are some very lucky actresses who will get to play these parts.
Georges really is a scoundrel. It is going to be great to see Robert carry all these emotions in one film.
My heart broke a bit for Clotilde over all of this.

So what do you think? Are all three women older? Rachel could be mid 20's or even younger, I think. But I see Madeleine, Clotilde, and Virginie as older. Mid to late 30's at least.

I revised my last post since you posted above.
I enjoyed the story as a whole. Like I said, it will be great to see Robert hit such emotions in one movie.
I see Clotilde and Madeleine in their very early 30's and Virginie perhaps mid 40's or more. The costuming alone for this film will be fantastic as will the settings and set designs.

After thinking about it for a bit this evening, some of my opinion has changed of Georges, especially after his conversation with Clotilde and his marriage to Suzanne. While yes, Georges was a scoundrel, he was also looking for a way to survive. He used people in the social circle as much as they used him. The Madeleine/Clotilde/Virginie story was sad. One loved him while he did not love her (Virginie) back. He loved one w/o her (Madeleine) loving him back and then there was the one (Clotilde) who he loved and loved him back and they never told each other. At least that was the way I saw it between the women. And Suzanne was just a means to survival for him. That and screwing over the man who used him.

I agree about your character assesment. That love triangle (well really I guess square? How about rhombus?) was heartbreaking. It's a shame that he and Clotilde couldn't have been happy together. But she really was afraid to lose her security and her daughter if her husband found out. This is one of the reasons that I hope they don't try and make this contemporary. (Assuming of course, that this script is not final) I just don't think the morals and the social interactions would work as well for a contemporary story. You would have to change an awful lot.
On a lighter note, every time I read a scene in which Georges was surrounded by beautiful women, all fawning over him, I thought about Robert reading this script and thinking, "Hell yeah! I want this part!"
